TATTOO AFTERCARE

TATTOO AFTERCARE:

  1. Leave the bandage on for a minimum of 3 hours and a maximum of 12 hours.
  2. Once the bandage is off, make sure that your hands are clean and gently wash the tattoo with a mild, unscented soap (e.g. Dial hand soap) and warm water. Take care to wash the tattoo until all of the old ointment is off. Be gentle but thorough, do not scrub, no washcloths, no luffas.
  3. Apply a thin coat of antibacterial ointment (e.g. Neosporin, Bacitracin, or Vitamin A&D). Repeat this process two or three times per day.
  4. In a few days you will notice the tattoo peeling or getting a slight scab. Do not pick at it! That means its healing fine. Switch from the ointment to a fragrance free hand lotion (e.g. Lubriderm or Curel) to keep it moisturized for the duration of the healing time.
  5. Keep it out of direct sunlight and do not soak it under water (no pools, baths, hot tubs, ocean, etc) for at least 2 weeks or until completely healed.

If you would like to use a transparent film dressing (e.g. Saniderm, Tegaderm, Second Skin, etc) please follow these instructions:

      1. Leave the initial bandage on that the tattoo artist applied for a minimum of 3 hours and a maximum of 12 hours.
      3. Allow the area to dry thoroughly, then immediately apply the transparent film dressing (see instructions on the packaging).
      4. Leave this dressing on for 4-5 days. Fluid accumulation under the bandage is normal and should be expected.
      5. After 4-5 days, remove the bandage.
-we recommend removing the dressing in the shower under warm, running water
-start at one corner and slowly pull bandage along the skin, not away from the skin
-move slowly and in small sections until the dressing is fully removed
      6. Use a fragrance free hand lotion (e.g. Lubriderm or Curel) to keep it moisturized for the duration of the healing time.
      7. Keep it out of direct sunlight and do not soak it under water (no pools, baths, hot tubs, ocean, etc) for at least 2 weeks or until completely healed.

Please feel free to reach out to the shop if you have any questions or concerns at any point during the healing process.
